The Surprising Restaurant

The Surprising Restaurant - Cheryl Cady

I was out of town the other week on business and wound up stuck, following my meeting, for something to eat in the middle of the day. I was in a place I was not familar with, surrounded by shops I didn’t recognise and it was frankly all starting to get a bit weird. Still, I sucked it up and started searching for a restaurant where I could satiate my appetite before returning home.

I came across this place that looked like a breeding ground for salmonella. The exterior of the place was filthy and the little car park looked like it hadn’t seen a touch from paving contractors in years. Still, my hunger pains were dictating the course of my actions so I stop off there in the hopes that looks could be deceiving.

Things weren’t promising as I ambled from the car to the front entrance. The cracks in the car park nearly sent me flying on more than once occasion, practically making me beg for contractors to come and sort this mess out. The front of the place wasn’t much better either, as the paving there had clearly been neglected over the years. I don’t know whose responsibility it is to find paving contractors Edmonton for situations like this but they clearly aren’t doing their jobs right.

I opened the door and stepped in, a little cautiously I might add, only to be greeted with some of the friendliest waiting staff I have ever met. They took me through to my table and I was completely shocked by who spotless the restaurant was and how much it differed from the impression I had gotten from the outside.

I ordered my food and it lived up to the standard of the service, and then some. In fact, I would go so far as to say it was some of the best food I’d ever tasted. I guess it just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover, as you never know what you might end up missing. I will be keeping the place in mind for the next time I end up in this part of town, though I might just jot down the numbers of a few paving contractors next time so that they can hopefully get that car park and pavement sorted out.
