Wrestling Comes to Alberta
There are times when I truly dread driving in Calgary. For those who don’t know the area, there is a certain famous professional wrestler and his family who hail from the city, which happens to be in the province of Alberta. Every time he comes back to town you can always rest assured that cars will be clogging up the Alberta asphalt roads from one end to the other. It makes driving in the city such a chore at times and as for parking, you can't take it for granted.
To be honest I probably shouldn’t complain as much as I do but I simply can’t help it. As great as the guy is, it always seems that every time he makes a public appearance I end up getting stuck somewhere on the Alberta asphalt, whether its spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to find parking so that I can get to work, or simply sitting idle amongst row after row of vehicles that all seem to just be queuing up to get a glimpse of the guy.
I suppose I should really learn to time my journeys across the great Alberta asphalt a little bit better. After all it’s not the wrestler’s fault but what’s a girl to do when she doesn’t have the time to constantly keep track of his movements in an effort to not end up getting stuck every time she journeys into town.
I suppose half of my frustration stems from the fact that my husband and son are both huge wrestling fans. So of course whenever this wrestler comes into town, I’m going to be spending time on the Alberta asphalt whether I like it or not. Luckily I’ve come up with a plan. See, the wrestling is something that I a father and son should share together; a kind of bonding activity that I would rather not be involved with. That way I think they will actually benefit from spending more time together without me in the way constantly whining or asking questions.
Of course, the benefit for me is that I'll no longer need to spend time stuck in traffic for hours on end and. Now when the wrestler shows up, I’ll be able to just kick my feet up and enjoy a relaxing night in without the boys in the house. It’s a win-win situation all around in my opinion.
